Mechanical, embedded, test, and reliability work that fits together.
Schwimmflugel is the public home for my cross-disciplinary hardware practice: prototypes, electronics, firmware bring-up, fixtures, root-cause analysis, and practical systems that have to survive contact with reality.
Prototype hardware
SolidWorks and Fusion 360 CAD, test fixtures, electromechanical packaging, board bring-up, FEA stress analysis, 3D printing, and validation for early-stage systems that need to become real devices quickly.
Embedded systems
ESP32 and FreeRTOS firmware, Raspberry Pi and PSOC, sensor and motor interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, USB), BLE and Wi-Fi, PID control, and the bench work required to debug real hardware behavior.
Reliability and root cause
RMA teardowns, failure reproduction, HALT, salt-spray, and temperature/humidity programs, instrumentation with oscilloscope and logic analyzer, and closing the loop back into design, process, and vendor action through SQL and Python tooling.
- 01Find the failure
- 02Measure what the system is doing
- 03Trace the cause
- 04Document the fix
Breadth with useful depth
Not a specialist in one narrow silo, but strong where real products overlap.
The strongest thread through my work is translation across domains: using mechanical context to improve electronics decisions, using firmware awareness to speed up field debug, and using test infrastructure to make design problems visible sooner.
- Mechanical design, test fixtures, fabrication oversight, and practical shop literacy (mill, lathe, drill, 3D printing)
- PCB design, board-level debug, firmware bring-up, and interface validation across I2C, SPI, UART, USB, BLE, and Wi-Fi
- Test automation, instrumentation, and SQL and Python support for engineering workflows (SharePoint, data pipelines for failure-mode tracking)
- Field deployment, compliance-adjacent coordination, and vendor-facing technical ownership across molding, sheet metal, PCBA, and precision machining

Use this page as the capabilities overview, then go to portfolio for proof or services for project scoping.
The portfolio shows the work in context. Services explains how I handle independent projects. If you are evaluating me for a full-time role, the employer page brings the most relevant experience together.
